Altoona's first
dedicated float studio.
A quieter corner of The Gorilla House Gym — built around the idea that an hour of true sensory rest is one of the most useful things you can give yourself in a noisy world.
An hour of nothing, in the middle of a busy life.
Altoona Floatation opened to fill a gap. Central Pennsylvania has plenty of places to push your body — gyms, cold plunges, recovery centers — but very few places designed to do the opposite. To slow it down. To remove the input. To let your nervous system stand down for a full hour.
Sensory deprivation flotation isn't new. The technique was developed in the 1950s by neuroscientist John C. Lilly, who was studying what happened to the brain in the absence of external stimulation. What he found — and what every floater since has confirmed — is that sixty minutes of sensory reduction produces a kind of rest that's structurally different from sleep, meditation, or any other downtime activity.
We built this studio for the people who never quite get there on their own. The high-stress professionals. The athletes managing chronic strain. The chronic-pain clients who've tried everything. The folks who can't quiet their minds long enough to meditate. Sixty minutes in the tank does most of the work for you.
Under the Asclepius Healing Center umbrella.
Altoona Floatation is one of several specialized recovery and wellness modalities operating out of 3200 Fairway Dr in Altoona. Each modality has its own dedicated space, equipment, and trained team — but they share a single brand and philosophy: high-quality recovery tools at honest prices, no membership traps, no upsell games.
All six sites operate from the same Altoona facility — 3200 Fairway Dr, Suite 3, inside The Gorilla House Gym.
Our three commitments.
Three principles guide everything we do — from how we price sessions to how we talk to first-time clients. They're written down because we want to be held to them.
Honest pricing.
One published rate, all the time. No peak surcharges, no auto-renewing memberships, no bait-and-switch packages. The $60 you see on the pricing page is the $60 you pay, every time.
A clean tank.
The tank is filtered, sanitized, and tested between every single session. Not at the end of the day. Not when it looks dirty. Every session. The water in your tank has been through a full filtration cycle since the last person used it.
A real conversation.
If float therapy isn't right for you, we'll tell you. If you'd be better off trying a different modality first, we'll point you to it. Our team's job is to help you, not to push the booking.
Our team.
Altoona Floatation is staffed by the same Asclepius Healing Center team that runs every other modality at the facility. You'll see the same faces every visit.
[REPLACE — Real bio pending] Tom oversees safety protocols and equipment operations across every Asclepius Healing Center modality. He's the person making sure your session runs the way it should — and the first call when something needs adjusting.
[REPLACE — Real bio pending] Dr. Reddy serves as Medical Director for the Asclepius Healing Center network, providing medical oversight, consultation review, and contraindication screening for clients across every modality.
[REPLACE — Real bio pending] Mitchell is the registered nurse on our team — handling intake screenings, medical questions, and ensuring every client is properly cleared before their session.
[REPLACE — Real bio pending] Alexis handles scheduling, client communication, and the front-desk experience. If you've called or texted to book, she's the voice on the other end.
Inside The
Gorilla House Gym.
We share a building with one of Altoona's premier fitness facilities. On-site parking is available. Walk in through the gym entrance and look for Suite 3 — our team will take it from there.
